Thomas Shewchuck is head of underwriting at Evertas. Hailing from Plymouth, MI, Thomas is among a very few individuals with a deep understanding of both crypto mining and insurance. Armed with this rare skillset, Thomas oversees the underwriting of complex mining risks, deftly tackling the foundational but daunting challenge of estimating mining hardware replacement costs.

Thomas got his start as a wholesale insurance broker at RT Specialty, where he specialized in D&O, tech E&O and cyber liability policies. He began trading crypto in 2016 and graduated to mining in 2019. He co-founded successful mining insurance company Bitsure in 2021 and came to Evertas through an acquisition of that firm. Thomas holds a degree in marketing from the University of Dayton. He is also a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), and an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) and holds a certificate in cryptocurrency from the MIT MediaLab.
